Stock targets and replenishment
Set stock targets and turn a reviewed shortfall into a purchase requirement.
Set a stock target
Open Inventory, choose the company and stock source, then open Replenishment. Select Set stock target, choose an item and location, and enter its Low-stock threshold and Target stock.
Quantities use the item's base unit. You can set a target for an unpriced stock item before listing it for sale. Targets are optional and belong to the selected stock source and location.
Review what to buy
Select the targets to check and choose Review what to buy. The review shows each item's available stock, held quantities and suggested purchase quantity. At or below the threshold, the suggestion fills the gap to your target. For example, 3 available units and a target of 10 suggest requesting 7.
Held, expired and recalled batches are excluded from eligible stock. A changed stock position or target requires a fresh review. Review up to 50 targets together; a large batch population may require a smaller selection.
Check outstanding purchase orders before continuing. Incoming orders are not automatically deducted from these suggestions.
Create a purchase requirement
Confirm that you reviewed outstanding orders, then choose Create purchase requirement. Select Open purchase requirement to continue in Purchasing with supplier quotes and review.
This creates a purchase requirement. Purchase orders, receipts, supplier bills and payments follow their existing steps. Stock and Accounting totals do not change when you create the requirement.
Purchasing must be enabled for the company. You need permission to manage Inventory to save targets and permission to manage both Inventory and Purchasing to create a requirement. Services can be requested directly in Purchasing.
Edit or pause a target
Use Edit target to change its quantities or set its status to Paused. A paused target is excluded from replenishment planning. For Trade stock, its low-stock check also pauses. Existing purchase requirements keep their own actions in Purchasing.
Recover an interrupted save
If a connection drops, use Check original result. If the original check confirms nothing was saved, use Retry exact request, or choose Close unposted request before making a correction. Keep the browser's saved request until the result is confirmed.
