# POS payments, invoices and returns

Understand recorded tenders, normal company invoices, credits and refund status.

## Configure the tenders your counter uses

Enable the cash, card or UPI methods needed for the register. A sale can split its amount across enabled tenders. Externally recorded payments can require a reference so the cashier preserves the evidence used at the counter.

**An externally recorded card or UPI reference is not provider confirmation.** Verify the actual payment through the relevant terminal, gateway or payment account. Provider-confirmed payment, settlement and an operator's report retain their own states.

## Cash received and change

During payment, enter the cash received and review the change. The drawer records the net cash retained for the sale. The change instruction belongs to that completed customer transaction; it is not an instruction for the next customer.

Use **Drawer** to review the open shift and its recorded cash position. Investigate differences against the actual drawer rather than entering another sale to make the totals agree.

## Normal company invoices

POS uses the selected company's normal Accounting invoice profile and series. The seller's legal entity, prices and applicable tax components determine the document. A POS tenant does not need a marketplace or ONDC seller identity to issue its own invoice.

A locally completed sale, synchronization, invoice issuance and payment application are separate steps. Review their status in the original receipt. If a response is interrupted, check the same original record before retrying.

## Return the original items or services

Open **Receipts**, choose the sale and use its return action. Select the original quantities and give the reason. Prior returns limit what remains returnable. The credit and requested refund stay connected to the original sale.

A credit does not itself prove money was paid back. A refund request, recorded cash handover, provider confirmation and settled refund have different meanings. Follow the displayed Finance or provider workflow for the actual refund. Do not hand over cash twice after an interrupted response; check the retained original status.

A commercial correction is separate from any statutory tax adjustment required for the transaction. Review the document and applicable tax treatment in Accounting.

For physical goods, financial return and stock disposition are separate decisions. Inspect and record returned stock before making it available again.
