# Products, variants, combos and batches

Connect shared Catalog products and Inventory batches to the counter.

## Use the shared company records

[Catalog](/catalog/overview) maintains products, services, variants and combos. [Inventory](/inventory/overview) maintains locations, batch quantities and movements. You can use these modules without a POS register.

Open **Manage point of sale → Products & services** for the same Catalog editor with the selected counter’s pricing context. A counter can use outlet-specific prices; common base prices apply where no outlet price is set. Choose the exact company and currency before editing.

## Variants and combos

Each variant has its own code, price, barcode and stock identity. A flavour option describes the product; its batch identifies a particular receipt of that variant. Use a combo for a fixed set or for configured customer choices, quantities and upgrade prices. Tracked components retain their own stock and batch identity.

## Receive and assign stock

Create a location and receive the batch in Inventory. Record its exact variant, quantity, unit and any manufacture or expiry times. Review the location and batch history before continuing.

In register management, open **Stock**, select the correct company, location and batch, then assign the quantity that this device can sell. An allocation sets aside stock for the device’s authorized work. Keep that assignment and its original acknowledgement available if a connection fails.

Publish the changed catalog, then sync and renew the enrolled device so it receives the current snapshot and stock authorization. Receiving stock or editing a product alone does not update an older offline register.

## Sell and return against the original stock

The cashier uses the configured batch order automatically. Select **Batch · Automatic** on a cart line when a specific assigned batch is needed. An unavailable explicit choice needs another selection.

A tracked POS return creates its linked stock receipt against the original sale and batch, with the recorded condition. Check that original receipt before taking any stock action. Do not receive the same returned quantity again manually. Inspect a quality-held return and use the Inventory quality action when it is ready for release.

Review [batch history](/inventory/overview) for quantity reconciliation. A balanced movement history confirms the recorded arithmetic; a physical count remains a separate operation.

Continue with [selling](/pos/selling) or [register setup](/pos/register-setup).
